As the days get shorter and the summer holidays come to an end, thoughts of a getaway start creeping in. September is the perfect time for a holiday, especially when you’re craving some sun. However, finding guaranteed sunshine in Europe can be a challenge, except in the Canary Islands.

Having visited Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria before, I can vouch for the amazing weather these islands offer year-round. For my September getaway, I chose the Salobre Hotel Resort and Serenity in Gran Canaria, and it was a decision I didn’t regret.

The hotel is a luxurious retreat with seven different pools, each offering a unique experience. From a sunset pool with panoramic views to a vitality pool in the spa, and even a private pool hidden in the hills, there’s something for everyone. The hotel also boasts multiple restaurants and bars, including a rooftop sunset pool snack bar and a Mediterranean buffet.

The Be Aloe Wellness Centre at Salobre’s spa is a haven for relaxation, offering a variety of facial and body therapies. The wellness circuit includes amenities like an 80-degree sauna, an oxygen therapy cabin, and an ice fountain. Outside, the vitality pool provides therapeutic jets, bubble beds, and stunning views of the golf course and mountains.

For golf enthusiasts, the Salobre Golf Resort offers 36 holes in two golf courses with sea and mountain views. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a four-night stay in a deluxe suite overlooking the golf course, complete with a living room, panoramic balcony, and a bathtub with hillside views.

On a half board basis, we indulged in delicious meals at the Sens Kitchen Patio Garden buffet. Chefs prepared fresh dishes, and each night featured a different cuisine theme. The S Club bar was the perfect spot for post-dinner drinks and entertainment, with live music and games keeping us entertained.

Our days were spent soaking up the sun by the pool, alternating between the rooftop infinity pool, the spa pool, and the private pool. One afternoon, we even tried our hand at golf, enjoying the beautiful course and scenic views.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. A free shuttle bus to Maspalomas town was a convenient option for exploring the area.

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape any time of the year, I highly recommend a visit to the Salobre Hotel Resort and Serenity in Gran Canaria. Just be prepared – you may never want to leave this luxurious retreat in the hills.
