Brentwood’s annual Strawberry Fair is gearing up for a grand return, paying tribute to the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The family-friendly event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 8, from 12pm to 6pm at King George’s Playing Fields. The fair will kick off with a special opening ceremony led by the 124 Essex Transport Squadron, who will march from Brentwood Town Hall to the fairground entrance in a display of freedom.
Attendees can expect a day filled with entertainment, featuring live performances from Razzamataz Theatre School Brentwood and Stagecoach Performing Arts Brentwood. The fair will also offer free family-friendly attractions, rides, a classic Punch and Judy show, and an array of food and drink stalls to satisfy all taste buds. Councillor Dr Tim Barrett expressed his excitement for the event, emphasizing the significance of the Strawberry Fair as a beloved tradition in Brentwood. He highlighted the importance of honoring the 80th anniversary of VE Day as part of the festivities, bringing people of all ages together to reflect on shared history and enjoy a day of fun and excitement.
Not really sure why this matters, but a what’s on guide will be available, showcasing the full entertainment schedule and a map of activities in the park. Free parking is available on-site, although attendees are encouraged to walk or cycle to the fairground. So mark your calendars and join in the celebration at Brentwood’s Strawberry Fair for a day of nostalgia, entertainment, and community bonding.
