Changes to London Bus Routes for August Bank Holiday Weekend

Londoners planning to use the bus services over the upcoming August bank holiday weekend should be aware of the changes that will be taking place on 17 different bus routes across the city. These alterations are part of Transport for London’s (TfL) ongoing efforts to align with the Mayor’s Transport Strategy, which aims to have 80% of journeys made via foot, bike, or public transport by 2041.

Currently, London boasts a fleet of around 9,300 buses operating on 675 different routes. The latest timetable changes set to be implemented over the bank holiday weekend are designed to better match demand, provide value for money, and enable TfL to invest in improving services, particularly in outer London.

Route Changes for August 24th

Starting Saturday, August 24th, several bus routes will see modifications to their timetables. Route 5 will have a new schedule with minor adjustments to times, including an increased frequency of buses every 8 minutes from the first bus, compared to the previous 10-minute interval. Route 15 and Route 115 will also have new timetables with slight time modifications to better accommodate passenger needs.

Route 50 will see changes in its service frequency, with buses running every 12 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturday, and every 15 minutes during the evening and all day on Sunday. Additionally, the early morning frequency will increase to every 15 minutes on weekdays and weekends. First buses on Sundays will be retimed to depart at the same time as on weekdays and Saturdays.

Enhanced Service on Various Routes

In addition to the aforementioned routes, several others will also experience timetable adjustments. Route 130, Route 177, Route 194, Route 250, and Route 320 will all have new schedules with minor changes to times to improve the overall efficiency of the service.

Route 255 will see similar changes to Route 50, with buses running every 12 minutes during the day on weekdays and Saturdays, and every 15 minutes in the evenings and on Sundays. Early morning frequency will also increase, with first buses retimed to align with weekday and Saturday schedules.

Temporary Changes and Improvements

Some routes will have temporary timetables introduced during the bank holiday weekend. Route 323 will see an expansion in service frequency to a bus every 17 minutes during the day on weekdays and Saturdays, and every 22 minutes in the evenings and on Sundays. Route 410 and Route 433 will have revised timetables to better reflect current traffic conditions.

For night services, Route N15 and Route N250 will have new timetables with minor adjustments to times to ensure smoother operations during the overnight hours. The temporary timetables on Route R68 and Route R70 will be removed, with services returning to their regular schedules.

With these changes in place, TfL aims to provide a more efficient and reliable bus service for Londoners during the bank holiday weekend. It’s essential for passengers to check the updated timetables for their respective routes to avoid any inconvenience during their travels.
