London Youth Games has opened up applications for their LYG33 team member programme for the 2024/25 season. This initiative aims to empower young Londoners aged 14-24 to have a say in the future of sports in London across the 33 different boroughs.
They are seeking passionate and diverse individuals to join LYG33, representing the spirit of London’s 33 boroughs. Participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable development experiences, attend exclusive events, and work on projects that make a positive impact on local communities.
The deadline for applications is Monday, 11 November at 11:00 am. It’s important to note that applicants do not need to be sports enthusiasts or have previous involvement with LYG. All that’s required is a commitment to improving sports and physical activity opportunities for young Londoners.
The programme has seen great success in promoting diversity and inclusion, with 46% of participants coming from underrepresented ethnicities and 52% being female. Additionally, 18% of participants were young disabled Londoners who made valuable contributions to the programme.
LYG33 members have the chance to access renowned sporting venues like Wembley Stadium and Twickenham, along with networking opportunities, mentorship, and personal development workshops. Micah, a returning leadership team member, expressed how LYG33 has helped improve their confidence, communication skills, and ability to turn ideas into action to create positive change.
The new season has kicked off with two days of planning and team bonding, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead. This is a fantastic opportunity for young Londoners to not only shape the future of sports in London but also to develop valuable skills for their future endeavors.
