To support the growth of the life sciences sector, more specialized buildings are needed to accommodate the heavy equipment and unique requirements of scientific research. Developers have made progress in meeting this demand, with new lab spaces being built in locations like the Francis Crick Institute and Canada Water. However, there is still room for more growth and innovation in this area.
London is currently ranked third globally in terms of life sciences capability, behind Boston and San Francisco. The goal is for London to become the top global city for life sciences, attracting talent and investment from around the world. The recent launch of a “London offer” for life sciences aims to do just that, with the hope of creating 80,000 new jobs in the sector over the next decade.
