Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Fatal Stabbing in Holloway

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Yahye Ahmed, who was fatally stabbed in Holloway. Ibrahim Elkadmiri of Axminster Road, Islington, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on September 26, where he received a life imprisonment sentence with a minimum term of 20 years. Elkadmiri had previously been found guilty of murder at the same court on July 29.

The incident that led to Yahye’s tragic death occurred on August 30, 2023, on Axminster Road. According to reports, Yahye spotted Elkadmiri outside a café in the area and armed himself with a baseball bat before following the 31-year-old. CCTV footage used in the investigation captured the victim following Elkadmiri along the road before a fatal confrontation took place off-camera.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Elkadmiri produced a large knife from his waistband and used it to stab Yahye five times. Yahye’s friends who were present at the scene fled after witnessing Elkadmiri with the knife and baseball bat. The 31-year-old then quickly ran from the scene, disposing of the baseball bat in a wheelie bin.

Yahye tragically died at the scene of the stabbing after sustaining five stab wounds. The court also heard how Ahmed Abdi Ahmed of Waldegrave Road, Hornsey, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, for being convicted of assisting Elkadmiri after the murder.

Details of the Incident and Investigation

The court proceedings revealed that Elkadmiri and Ahmed exchanged phone calls following the murder, with one conversation lasting 16 minutes discussing arrangements for Ahmed to pick up Elkadmiri. Ahmed then drove his BMW to collect Elkadmiri at Hermitage Road in Tottenham, and the two individuals drove away together.

After dropping Elkadmiri at a friend’s house, Ahmed left to purchase a grey tracksuit from a sports shop in Wood Green, which Elkadmiri was later seen wearing. CCTV footage captured Elkadmiri in the tracksuit disposing of a bag of clothes he had been wearing at the time of the murder.

Detective Sergeant Devan Taylor expressed gratitude to those who engaged with the investigation, stating, “Despite an extensive investigation, we may never know what the dispute was between the victim and Elkadmiri, but we do know that the confrontation was violent in the extreme and ended a young man’s life.”
