So, like, this dude Jules Pipe, who is Sadiq Khan’s sidekick for planning and stuff, used to be all big in the Hackney Council scene back in the day. He was mayor and then Mayor again a bunch of times before jumping ship to work with Khan in 2016.
Now, Pipe is all up in City Hall’s business, helping decide what goes where in London and making sure the Mayor’s ideas actually happen. But, like, not many people know who he is or what he does, ’cause his job is super complicated and not easy to explain.
Anyway, Pipe chatted with some peeps from On London and The London Society about his gig, how things are going with the London Plan, and what City Hall wants from the government’s spending review in June. Apparently, the government doesn’t like London very much, and Pipe is hoping for cash to fix up London’s transportation and maybe make a whole new town or something.
