So, get this: apparently, the leader of Wandsworth Council managed to keep his job after some kind of challenge from a Labour buddy. This all went down at the Labour group’s annual general meeting recently, and the guy’s name is Simon Hogg. He beat out Kate Stock, another councillor, by 21 votes to 13. And get this, Tooting Broadway councillor Rex Osborn had been thinking about going for the top spot too, but then changed his mind and decided to aim for the deputy role instead. Seems like a bit of a rollercoaster, huh?
And get this, the local Conservatives are feeling pretty good about their chances of taking back control of the borough in 2026. They’re all pumped up and confident about it. Right now, Labour has 34 seats on the council, the Conservatives have 23, and there’s one Independent thrown in the mix. Oh, and by the way, they tried to reach out to Simon Hogg for a comment but no word from him yet.
