Ever since the first colour film hit the market, Hampstead Photographic Society has been coming together to share members’ tips and triumphs. Now, 88 years since its inception, the club is hosting its annual summer exhibition with what member Gerry Temple claims to be the “biggest and best” images on display.

With a total of 66 works by members of North London’s top camera club, the exhibition will take place at Lauderdale House in Highgate later this month. The subjects of the photographs range from local scenes like St John’s Hampstead, where the group meets regularly in the crypt, to more exotic locations such as a Scandinavian beach and a Portuguese street scene. Urban landscapes, wildlife, and abstract pieces created using various technologies and creative techniques will also be showcased.

Gerry Temple, an amateur photographer and active society member for the past five years, will be exhibiting his stunning image of a barn owl emerging into the light from its nighttime roost. David Reed, the chairman of Hampstead Photographic Society, expressed pride in the diverse range of brilliant pictures created by club members and emphasized the group’s passion for constantly interpreting and reinterpreting their surroundings. The exhibition, running from May 28 to June 23 at Lauderdale House, will feature works like “Call For Flowers” by Gwyneth Macaulay.
