It was a Wednesday evening when I made my way to the Hammersmith Apollo to watch The Last Dinner Party perform. The band, made up of talented female and non-binary musicians, has quickly risen to fame since their debut in 2023. My daughter, Sadie, joined me for the concert, and we were both excited to see one of our favorite bands live.
As we approached the venue, we were greeted by a crowd of young women dressed in a mix of Victorian-inspired outfits and modern pieces. The atmosphere was lively and full of feminist energy, setting the tone for what promised to be a memorable night.
The band’s unique blend of baroque rock cabaret opera, reminiscent of artists like Kate Bush and Freddie Mercury, filled the historic Apollo with an enchanting sound. The grandeur of the venue, with its marble staircases and gothic chambers, added to the magical experience of the concert.
Throughout the performance, the audience, mostly made up of adoring female fans, sang along to the band’s songs with passion. It was clear that The Last Dinner Party’s music resonated deeply with their followers, creating a sense of unity and empowerment in the room.
After the concert, my daughter and I realized that we had skipped dinner to make it to the show on time. Fortunately, we found a nearby burger joint that was still open and enjoyed a delicious vegan meal while sharing our favorite moments from the gig.
As we reflected on the evening, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experience of witnessing such a talented and inspiring band in the heart of London. The Last Dinner Party had truly delivered a performance to remember, and we left the venue feeling uplifted and connected to the vibrant music scene of the city.
