We are excited to announce that Tyler Onyango from Everton has joined Stockport County on a loan deal for the season. Tyler, who is 21 years old, has primarily played in midfield but has recently transitioned into a right-sided centre-half with a height of 6’5, bringing an aerial presence to the team.
Having been in Everton’s academy since he was eight, Tyler made his debut for the Toffees in a 2021 FA Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday. He also made his Premier League debut in the same year, featuring in games against Manchester City, Chelsea, and Aston Villa during the 2021/22 season.
After spending the first half of the following season on loan at Burton Albion in League One, Tyler then moved to Forest Green Rovers for the second half of the season. His loan spells have provided him with valuable experience in different environments and playing styles.
Tyler will be wearing the number 24 shirt during his time at Edgeley Park and is set to be available for the upcoming game against Cambridge United. Director of Football, Simon Wilson, praised Tyler’s qualities of quality, physicality, and versatility, believing that he will be a great addition to the team and the league.
The loan deal was made possible thanks to the support of Everton, who saw Stockport County as the right fit for Tyler’s development. With his existing relationships within the squad and positive character references, Tyler is expected to settle in well and make a positive impact during his time at the club. We look forward to seeing Tyler in action and wish him the best of luck in his new challenge with Stockport County.
