McDonald’s is planning to reopen its restaurant in Brentwood town center, which has been empty since 2016. The fast-food chain has requested to stay open until midnight once it reopens.

This decision comes after a previous proposal for an Irish bar to open at the same location until 2am was approved by the Brentwood Borough Council. However, the company behind the bar has not yet decided to move forward with the investment.

Despite the change of use approval for the property, McDonald’s does not need any additional planning permission to reopen the restaurant, which has been a staple in the town since 1991. The new plans also include modifications to the building to allow staff and delivery drivers to access orders without using the main entrance.

An application has been submitted to the Brentwood Council for a new premises license that would allow McDonald’s to serve late-night refreshments between 11pm and midnight every day of the week. If approved, the restaurant will operate from 5am to midnight.

The High Street where the restaurant is located has a diverse mix of buildings, and the vacant and boarded-up McDonald’s location has been a detracting factor from the area’s character and appearance since 2016.

Overall, the reopening of McDonald’s with extended hours will provide more dining options for residents and visitors in Brentwood. Additionally, the new premises license will allow customers to enjoy their favorite fast food items until midnight every day, catering to those looking for late-night snacks or meals. The modifications to the building will also improve the overall functionality of the restaurant, making it more convenient for both customers and staff.
